Is self-publishing a goldmine? Some of the things we’re hearing might lead someone down that money trail. But therein lies the problem. Self-publishing, or publishing of any kind is a lot of work. Yes, there are people that are making a fortune, but for all of the books published how many of them are getting noticed and, more importantly, how can you gain attention for your work in a sea of eager authors and newly published titles? We try to help you solve that bit by bit on this blog and through the content we put out there, but many are still challenged by it.

So, this begs the question: where is all of this going? With all of the content being pushed out there, are we still paying attention to the ones that matter? I’d love your thoughts on this CNN piece…which does lean towards painting the picture of eBooks as the means to a lucrative end!

Ugh. E-books are looking to be a more profitable option than print, but authors must know how to market effectively or have a big fan base to begin with. I just loaded my older book to Kindle Direct this spring and was surprised how much it earned the first few months, but it is not going to make me quit my day job! If you’re in it for money, you don’t know much about publishing.

Linda, great comment! This is so true. You should never get into this for the money — big mistake. But congrats on the success so far with your eBook!
