Teaching Self-Publishing at NYU

As most of you know by now, I was tapped to teach a 6 week class for NYU which started March 10, 2010 and will run through April. I was beyond thrilled to teach this class, mostly because I love to teach but also – what an honor to teach for NYU.

As I started through this process though, I had no idea what *I* would learn and how much the industry is changing. In the coming weeks, I’m going to be sharing some tid bits from the class here so you can all get a sense of some of the content covered. For now let me say this, if you’re self-publishing you’re in good company. A recent statistic I found on the Lighting Source website self-publishing is predicted to grow by 15-20% each year! Yes, this means more books – more competition but it also means more opportunity for those of you willing to take the time to write a great book, package it and market it properly.

But first, it’s all about timing – here’s a recent handout from NYU – NYU Marketing Timeline
