Ok, seriously folks. Don’t let dead people write your posts for you. Confused? Let me explain. I’ve been beefing up my list of blogs I engage with (comment on, read, etc) and consequently I’ve been reading a considerable number of blogs, some of them interesting and others I swear were written by people without a pulse.
I attribute this dead-people blogging to bloggers who have no real interest in their blog. They blog because someone told them they had to or because they have blog guilt (you know the kind of guilt you have when your web designer installs blog software on your site and feel obliged to use it because it’s there, sort of like eating that box of Oreo’s just because they’re sitting in your pantry). Anyway, here’s the deal: write passionately about your topic, be engaged and if you can’t be engaged, try faking it really well. No, I’m kidding, no faking – people online can spot faking a mile away. Be sincere, find stuff you’re interested in and blog about that. Have an opinion on something. Find your voice and let your voice find an audience.
Read a few blogs and you’ll see what I mean. Some are alive and energized while others are not. May they rest in peace.
Hi penny I feel like I am a dead person blogging on my site. I have only had a few visitors and now I think I am getting discouraged. I have been sick since you and sara talked and now I have pneumonia again and have been useless. I feel like I have hit a dead end with my website. If you have any ideas I would love them. Thanks Eileen
