If you don’t think NBC’s scheduling changes have anything to do with your book marketing, think again. In a recent move NBC announced sweeping changes to their evening line-up – moving scripted shows to the 9pm time slot and leaving reality TV in the 8pm time slot. The reason? Not enough advertising dollars to support the more expensive reality TV shows in the later timeslot. With TiVo and other recording devices changing the way and time we view TV, networks are scrambling to make ad revenues this means that they are looking for more drama, more controversy and the stories no one else is getting. If your message falls into this category great, if it doesn’t you may find your campaign lacking in television appearances. So what should a savvy PR pro do? Well head to the Internet, the one place where ad dollars (or the lack thereof) won’t affect your campaign.
