Author Nancy Spiller always dreamed of having a reading at Dutton’s Bookstore in LA. There was one problem – the store, the literary center of LA – had closed during the seven years Spiller worked on her book: “Entertaining Disasters: A Novel (With Recipes).” Spiller publicly declared her intentions to track down store owner Doug Dutton’s home address in order to realize her goal, and Dutton was flattered. So Dutton did the next best thing: he let Spiller hold the reading on his lawn. Here’s the scoop.
